Head of Legal I Executive Director

Our client is a leading Corporate- and Investment Bank with its Headquarter in Frankfurt and 7 additional Branches all over Europe.

The person will take on the leadership of the Legal team with a focus on EMEA and will be the primary contact for the board and senior management on all legal matters concerning the bank.

• Lead a team of senior lawyers

• Provide advice in respect of relevant banking and capital markets regulation in the EU

• Identify emerging legal risks and develop and communicate legal risk appetite in respect of them

• Manage the engagement and use of external counsel and control the amount of external legal expenses.

• Provide compelling and influential strategic advice to senior management in the EU as well as more broadly as required

• Develop and provide leadership to the lawyers in the EU, focusing not only on their knowledge and legal skillsets but also their leadership and management skills in order to meet succession needs

• A lawyer qualified in the law of a Member State of the EU or of a part of the UK

• A considerable number of years of post-qualification experience with a comprehensive knowledge of EU and national banking and finance law and regulation.

• Knowledge of regulation relating to the ECB will be particularly valuable

• Ability to communicate complex terms and processes in simple terms to a wide audience

• Experience of managing senior lawyers and directing and prioritising the work of professional teams

• Experience of drafting and developing complex documentation

• A thorough understanding of the financial market products in EMEA, with significant experience in structured finance and, capital markets products
