The role focuses on the consistent application of accounting standards and adherence to regulatory frameworks within a European banking environment, combining deep technical knowledge in HGB and IFRS with an excellent understanding of financial products. It also contributes to cross-functional finance initiatives that support the institution’s broader operating model across business lines and locations.
Ensure that all accounting practices are in line with applicable HGB, IFRS, and MaRisk requirements
Maintain and regularly update accounting policies; communicate changes and provide training to ensure internal alignment
Serve as a subject matter expert or contributor to finance and transformation projects, particularly in areas involving accounting interpretation and impact
Prepare assigned components of statutory financial statements under HGB and IFRS, including note disclosures; liaise with auditors and coordinate relevant audit areas
Support the New Product Process by evaluating accounting implications, defining required procedures and controls, and overseeing testing activities across the institution and its branches
Oversee FinRep reporting governance and contribute to a robust and transparent sign-off process
Participate in the design, monitoring, and enhancement of the Internal Control System for Finance
Conduct reviews of quarterly CIF and NON-CIF documentation and balance sheet audits
Advise internal stakeholders and senior management on complex accounting and methodological matters
Assist the Head of Accounting in analyzing regulatory developments and preparing briefing and decision materials
Foster close collaboration with Finance & Control teams in EMEA, Risk Management, Treasury, and Product Divisions
Contribute to strengthening data governance in financial reporting and support the establishment of a finance-specific governance committee
Several years of experience in a comparable role within an international bank or a consultancy environment
Master’s degree in a relevant field; additional professional qualifications are considered an asset
In-depth knowledge of HGB and IFRS, including practical application and disclosure requirements
Strong conceptual and analytical thinking, with the ability to assess complex topics and articulate well-founded solutions
Clear and confident communicator; able to explain accounting matters to senior stakeholders across business and control functions
Clear and confident communication style, with the ability to convey complex accounting matters effectively to senior management and front-office leadership
Proven ability to evaluate alternative solutions independently and to defend recommendations in critical discussions
Advanced numerical and IT proficiency
Strong command of Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with other data or reporting tools is advantageous
