This role is responsible for shaping and executing the data governance strategy within the risk management function, ensuring that risk data is accurate, consistent, secure, and meets both internal standards and regulatory expectations. The position involves establishing a governance framework to support data ownership, quality, and lifecycle management, while collaborating across functions including Risk, IT, Compliance, and data governance teams to embed governance principles into processes and systems.
Collaborate closely with the Data Management Office to support the execution of the risk data governance strategy and policies
Develop and roll out a robust data governance framework for the risk domain, aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, CRR, MaRisk)
Coordinate the Domain Data Steward team and serve as the primary contact for Domain Data Owners and the Data Management Office
Define and maintain an inventory of Key Data Elements (KDEs) and ensure clear assignment of Key Data Owners (KDOs)
Establish data quality rules, controls, and monitoring processes; lead root cause analysis and drive remediation
Work closely with the ECB and other supervisory bodies to ensure adherence to data governance requirements and respond to evolving regulatory expectations
Promote end-to-end implementation of data governance, including cataloging, standard documentation and lineage mapping for prioritized use cases
Ensure consistency, traceability, and reliability of risk data across systems and reports
Play a key role in strategic projects involving risk data, including system migrations, regulatory implementations, and data architecture initiatives
Promote data governance awareness and accountability across the risk function through training and communication
Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management and governance committees on progress, issues, and risk-related data topics
Serve as a subject matter expert on data governance within the risk domain, in coordination with Domain Data Stewards, and represent the function in enterprise-wide governance forums
10–15 years of experience in risk management, data governance, or data management, ideally within the financial services sector
Academic degree or equivalent professional experience, ideally with a quantitative focus
Full professionell proficiency in English; German is a great advantage
Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and supervisory requirements governing risk data governance, including BCBS 239, Basel III, CRR, and EBA Guidelines
Proven experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks, particularly within the Risk domain
Solid understanding of data quality concepts, metadata standards, profiling techniques, and analytical approaches, combined with hands-on experience using data governance tools
Strong analytical ability combined with a structured, accuracy-driven approach
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capability to engage and influence stakeholders across all organizational levels
