This role is positioned within the Credit and Capital Risk Management function and carries responsibility for shaping and overseeing the bank’s internal and external stress testing framework. It makes a key contribution to strengthening risk steering, advancing the ICAAP framework, and supporting forward-looking capital planning. As the institution’s regulatory engagement deepens, the role may also expand to include the planning and coordination of supervisory stress testing activities, such as those led by the EBA or ECB.
Design, implement and continuously improve the bank’s internal stress testing framework and methodology across all risk types, ensuring consistency with the institution’s capital planning and overall risk strategy
Develop and maintain internal stress scenarios, including macroeconomic, idiosyncratic and reverse stress tests, tailored to the institution’s specific risk profile
Lead the design and execution of internal and regulatory stress tests for credit risk
Collaborate and coordinate with individual risk teams on the design and implementation of risk-type-specific stress tests, ensuring consistency and integration of the stress testing programme within capital risk management and the broader enterprise risk framework
Lead cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Treasury, Risk and Business Units to ensure that input data, modeling assumptions and results used in stress testing are accurate, consistent and aligned with strategic planning requirements
Embed the stress testing framework within the ICAAP process, supporting capital allocation and strategic decision-making under baseline and stressed conditions
Ensure robust governance and documentation for stress testing methodologies, assumptions, scenarios and outcomes
Track changes in regulatory standards and market practices to ensure the stress testing framework remains in line with current ECB and EBA requirements
Oversee the bank’s expected involvement in EBA and ECB stress testing exercises by coordinating execution efforts, aligning methodologies, preparing data submissions, and managing internal stakeholder interactions
Collaboration with senior management and internal committees, presentation of key findings and recommendations
Support the professional growth of junior staff by providing guidance, promoting high analytical standards and encouraging ongoing learning
Minimum of 10 years experience in stress testing, capital risk, or risk management within a financial institution or regulatory body
Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management or a quantitative field; professional certifications such as CFA or FRM is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to build and operate internal stress testing frameworks with a focus on ICAAP applicability
Strong knowledge of ECB and EBA stress testing methodologies and regulatory requirements
Solid understanding of credit risk, capital adequacy and macro-financial interdependencies
Experience in leading cross-functional projects and working with senior stakeholders
Strong command of stress testing tools, data analytics, and risk modeling platforms; experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL is considered beneficial
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex subject matter in a clear and structured manner to senior stakeholders
